We declare to you what was from the beginning, what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and touched with our hands, concerning the word of life— this life was revealed, and we have seen it and testify to it, and declare to you the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us— we declare to you what we have seen and heard so that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ. We are writing these things so that our joy may be complete.
During previous discussions in Zoom about our thoughts and feelings, concerns and hopes in these difficult times, it became clear that many of us are hungering for community as we witness and experience so much uncertainty and suffering associated with the pandemic, racism, violence, and polarization ... and that many of us are committed to related learning and action. “Essential Conversations” is a response. Informed by our Tradition & Transformation visioning initiative, “Essential Conversations” carries forward the central question from this summer’s sermon series on the Moravian essentials of faith, love, and hope: What might it look like for RMC to nurture faith, practice love, and inspire hope in this time? The question engages us in exploration of both our traditional essentials and the possibilities for transformation of ourselves, our congregation, and our world as we deepen our living of them for this moment.
