Community Service

SteepleRaleigh Moravian Church seeks to provide outreach to the greater Raleigh community and offers its members a variety of service opportunities where they can use their time and talents to serve others. Service projects are coordinated by volunteers and operate independently. Anyone is welcome to volunteer for one or more of these opportunities for service.

We currently support the following programs:

Red Cross Blood Drive

Approximately every 2 months, RMC sponsors a blood drive for the American Red Cross. Delicious homemade snacks await donors at our drives.

The Flower Shuttle

Each Tuesday, a group meets at Raleigh Moravian to reassemble donated flower arrangements into smaller bouquets, and then deliver them to various organizations throughout the Triangle. The flowers are given in great love and care, and they become a blessing to all who touch them.

Food Bank

Members of Raleigh Moravian are encouraged to bring food items to church each Sunday. A specific food item is designated for each month of the year. Deliveries are made to the Raleigh Food Bank on a monthly basis.

Gulf Coast/ Hurricane Katrina Relief Mission Trip

Members from Raleigh Moravian, Christ the King in Durham, Holly Springs Moravian, Home Church, and New Philadelphia went to New Orleans January 28 - February 3, 2007. They deconstructed five homes, put up drywall in two others, wired one house, installed a bathroom in another, and installed baseboards, crown molding, window trim in another. This was the first adult mission trip undertaken by RMC. We hope to offer similar opportunities on an annual basis.

Men's Shelter

Once a month, the MYF visits the Raleigh Men's Shelter on Sunday morning. Donations of gently used clothing (especially suits, shirts, and pants suitable for interviewing) are taken to the men.

Moravian Youth Fellowship Mission Trips

Our MYF goes on annual mission trips. Domestic mission trips are taken during three consecutive summers. In 2006 the middle school group went to Laurel Ridge Mission Camp (with 22 youth and adults) to repair cabins, and the senior high school group served with the Appalachia Service Project (19 youth and adults).

Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network

Three times a year, in conjunction with Highland United Methodist Church, RMC hosts families in the Wake Interfaith Hospitality Network. We provide a meal and one of the overnight hosts on Tuesdays. In 2007, Highland Methodist will host Wake Interfaith families during these weeks:

February 4-11
May 13-20
September 16-23
