Our MYF leadership philosophy

In support of the Moravian motto, "In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; and in all things love", the philosophy of the youth leadership is to teach and model Christian principals. In doing so, we hope to encourage the youth to think for themselves and to internalize the lessons taught to us by Jesus Christ. The current MYF leaders are: Ray Ansley, David & Dee Ann Cherveny, Matt Cherveny, Jeanette Coppedge, Jean Marie Livaudais, Philip Pfeifer, and Diane Powers.

Mission Trip News

This summer, RMC will be supporting two mission trips for the youth. The junior high youth and middle school class will attend the Laurel Ridge Mission Camp. The senior high youth will be joining the adults of the congregation on a multi-generational trip to Camp Victor in Ocean Springs, Mississippi to perform Katrina relief work.

Fellowship

Building strong relationships between our youth is fundamental to the success of a youth fellowship program. To support that goal, we regularly schedule retreats and other "fun" outings to help nurture the friendships that are formed in our weekly meetings.

Ministries

The youth at Raleigh Moravian are very involved in several ministries, both inside the church and out in the community.

Men's shelter ministry

MYF and the middle school class jointly host a regular ministry at the South Wilmington Street Men's Shelter on the first Sunday morning of each month. Our visits allow us to take clothing, toiletries, song, and fellowship to our homeless brothers at the shelter. We're always thankful for donations of the following items that can be taken to the shelter:

bullet Men's clothing
bullet Blankets
bullet Bags
bullet Toiletries (soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, lotion)
bullet Coats, hats, gloves, scarves

Activities with children

The MYF youth are also very active in providing fun and education for the young children of the church. Each year, we host an Easter Egg Hunt and teach the stories of Holy Week to the children. We also host a Fall Carnival.
